Hope

The Hope Diamond is a large, 45.52 carats deep-blue diamoned, stored in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC.

Its to be given a makeover by Harry Winston to honour the 50th anniversary of its donation to the Smithsonian Institute.

In 1958, the diamond was given to the Smithsonian as a "gift to the American people" by Harry Winston himself and now the American public is being invited to vote of a new design for the 45.52 carat blue diamond.

The three designs, which symbolise hope in America, can be voted for at www.smithsonianchannel.com from August 19 to September 7 2009.

The final setting was unveiled on November 18th, 2010, designed by Harry Winston.
